Last Sunday was so great!

I took both of my kids to Mindekirken, because I read in their bullitin that the last Sunday of every month, they have 10:00 one hour children's musical sunday school, and I wanted to take my kids to it. It was held in a church basement classroom at two long tables. There were only about 6 kids and an almost equal amount of moms. The pastor of the church came to it, and about 5 or 6 elderly ladies joined us. I think adult education, also scheduled for that same time, was cancelled for poor attndence, and they had to join the kids. Then two clowns came! The middle aged guitar playing lady and the middle aged piano playing lady handed out home made booklets of childrens sunday school songs, about half in Norwegian about half in English. My 11 year old daughter sang along quietly and did the hand gestures they taught us, but my 6 year old son hid his face the whole time , in large part, due to the presence of clowns. Who ever thinks clowns are a good idea.

Well after an hour we went upstairs and sat in a pew for an hour of bilingual church service. And the pastor walked over to us and asked if the kids would be willing to walk in, during the opening processional, with all the other children, and sing the songs we'd just learned, in front of the whole congregation, and what shocked me is that theyboth agreed, if I would go with them. Even my son who hid is face the whole time! It was akward for me, though, because not only am I not Lutheran, I'm not even religious at all. But we did it anyway and I was very proud of the kids.

That afternoon I got to go to my friend Debi's house in South Minneapolis, and we ate chips and veggie burgers and watched Repo Man. I also drank a diet root beer. I dont' even know why I claim to be on a no pop diet any more. I've had like 5 or 6 since New Years now. Then we stayed outside in the warm weather, finally, and just sat around and told jokes it was great. I don't get out enough.

Monday was Memorial Day. We took the kids to a new local park that just opened, but they whined and wanted to go home the whole time.

Tuesday was their last day of school. They both just walked out with me like it was any other day, but I was very sad because this school is being shut down this summer! This is the last day that either of my kids will attend Pike Lake School unless it opens back up again while my son is still elementary school age, and that's not likely. I thought it was an amazing, excellent school, and they were both very happy there. They're both completely unaware that there are schools full of bullies or snobs or both, out there. Those kind of miserable hell-hole schools are completely not in their minds as a possibility.

Before I left to pick up my kids, a new person in my dept was asking me something. I was at her desk when she received an email reply from our level -2 support dept. If we don't know the answer to a client's question, we're supposed to email our level -2 support department and they're supposed to tell us the answer to tell the client. This new person received such a rude reply saying "This question was so easy...if You'd just read this part of the documentation you would have known..." and it was full of bolds and exclamation points. Basically, this level-2 person whose job it is to answer our questions replied to a new person with a FLAME email! And I've had relatively new people complain to me about level-2 in the past, but I'd never seen this bad of an example for it. And it was right at the time for me to leave, so I couldn't send a reply of my own or go over and talk to that person or anything! So I did something I rarely ever do, I just turned a copy of this email ofver to my manager on my way out. I'll have to deal with it more next week if necessary.

Because my kids are out of school Wednesday (yesterday), Thursday (today), and Friday (tomorrow). So I have taken these 3 days off to stay home with them. Yes, I went to my job exactly one day this week.

Yesterday I told my kids they could have a last day of school party. Normally my daughter and I have hosted a last day of school party for her friends on the real last day of school. But normally the last day of school is a half day . But Tuesday was a full day, so we held the party the next day. She had two class mates come. And one of their younger sisters. Then 4 neighbor boys, and two of their friends who we don't know! They all ran around, inside, outside, my daughter's room, the basement, they played video games , and we had snacks out, and watched INvader Zim on dvd, and I got the little kids to play the Game of Life board game with me when the bigger kids started evading the little kids. The first arrived at 1:00, the last left at 7:00. They ranged in ages from 3 to 11. And my husband didn't get home until around 9:00 pm, because he had a get-together with some of his other friends AND got parked-in in downtown Minneapolis. So it was just me and them. Still it went pretty good!
